Colors look hard and pale on a fp while on a monitor colors look softer and lively.
If you design a site on a fp the s
ite's colors look totally different on a monitor. What do you think?

I think a flat panel is a monitor.
Colors might not match exactly, but good flat screens are better in some ways than CRT monitors... and a lot of your audience is going to flat screen...

We all use LG FLATRON type L170S '17 flatscreens here at the studio. Theu work exelent! No problems when we compare work to a regular monitor... There great, in my opinion...

you arent going to be able to call a CRT a 'regular monitor' for much longer... they are going to dissappear in a few years.

plus you'll notice that your headaches go away... trust me, go with a FP. if you're on a mac, the studio displays are great. countless awards for their color.

I design on monitor and your right, unless you have a really, really good fp.

Work with both if you can, so you're sure there are no oversights.
If at all possible you should have a "worst case scenario" machine somewhere with the colors all over saturated and lovely yellow or blue tint problem that crt's seem to get with age.

Once upon a time I worked on dual lcd monitors; one was a 15" apple lcd and the other a 17" Samsung. The color variation between those monitors drove me nuts and I could never match them...then I had trouble matching color between those and client monitors (for web work). I now work with one CRT and one LCD. Much better.
