the fact that they they stuck thier neck out and told the people who contribute to thier funding 'f**k You' is quite impressive.

the government dont fund them we do.
they are not a government media agency, they are a body of the people.

Why are they opening up UK TV channels to foreign ownership? Seems pretty fucked up and I can't see how they could justify it on a quality basis, if that happens we'd need the BBC even more.

The BBC is responsible for a consistently high standard of reporting, programming, and documentaries not only in the UK but throughout the world.
Their innovative use of interactive technology (anyone watch wimbledon through bbci?) is a much needed alternative to murdoch's massive media machine. There should always be room in this country for programming that is not entirely advertising led.
Also the BBC is one of the few training routes for newcomers to the industry - the old studio system of apprenticeship is gone and this is the closest thing left.

It's a Conspiracy personally set up to get rid of the BBC. Viacom is planning on launching there own tv channels in the UK, (a channel 6)and have recently been complaning over the bbc's dominence in the Uk market. They want them out. So does blair. 2+2=

why is it that the whole world can see how brilliant/valuable/worthy the BBC is except our very own British public? We've got something really good - when will we wake up and realise it? When its too late?
Long live the Beeb

how is the BBC shite save?
fair enough I can do without 'some mothers do 'ave em' but theres a lot of good comes out of the BBC, if nothing else its holds some kind of benchmark that keeps the standards of the other channels high. Theres a lot wrong with TV at the moment but I certainly wouldn't do away with the beeb.
