Hey i'm thinking of starting video soon. I want to learn after effects mainly...
Can you record from a DV cam in after effects. Or do you have to record it using another program first and then import to after effects. Sorry if this sounds silly, but i have no idea.
I'm on a MAC, should i use imovie to record the clips and then import to after effects?
any help please..

Capture using final cut pro. Do an edit then drop in to After effects maybe. You could use Premier though...
Have a look at

I would highly suggest getting FinalCut Express. It's not that much money and it's waaaay better than imovie. Plus, you'll get used to FinalCut, so someday when you're ready you can upgrade to the pro version.
If you can't afford FCExpress, you can use imovie to capture, edit, and then export into AE.
Take my advice tho...save some cash and get FCExpress....you'll be thanking me in no time!

Good advice crayon. Premiere is dead and iMove's a joke. It's got to be FCP everytime, no selfrespected gay porn producer would be without it, right boys. Wink, wink!

Creon is right. Absolutely, with any sequencer whether audio or video you want to first record it and then put your effects on second.
