Hello peoples.
I need your help for some flash work I have been racking my brain with.
I have developed a CD-ROM for a client that includes an "install to computer" function. This function needs to basically copy the directory to the directory on their computer of their choice.
I don't know if this should be done with a script or if this is something that can be done within flash. Please let me of any scripts that I should use to accomplish this. Any links or anything that can help.
This will be playing on mac & pc. If you guys have done this already and know of a quick way to handle this, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, ladies and gents for your time and please help if you can.
Peace

could be you'll need one of those installation proggies (forgot the name)..but maybe *thinking* you could do it with a .bat file..
call like:
On (Release){
FS Command ("Exec", mydoc.bat")
}--
hhmmm well, just shoutin ideas out..

Thanks for the ideas.
I would rather do something that is going to work cross platform. I am considering an install shield.
Anyone else? Please help if you can.

Ok, heres the score.
If you wanted a stable CD-ROM that is a hybrid (for PC and Mac) use Director (MX - if your using Flash MX for your interface).
This means that your basically using Director as a 'shell' in which your Flash Interface sits.
This would allow you then to compile everything into one Director .exe - or - give the option to tap into the API of Windows or OS X using an Xtra such as BuddyAPI - this allows for file transfer, window handling, detection of platform os etc...
Alternatively you could try to get yourself one of these - I have no idea if they run on macs tho...
SWF Studio 2 -

http://www.mods.com.au/budapi/Please also remember that Flash is for the Web and as such has no real commands to client systems that it runs on.
Your first choice to making a CD-ROM. should always be Director. Pick it up and learn it - if you don't know already. It is more powerful and less complicated (once you understand the basics) than you realise.
Hope this helps. Apologies for ranting a little.
Peace.

Thanks for the help hardcore.
If anyone else has anything they can help with, please do.
I have it working on PC, but it doesn't work for mac for obvious reasons. So if someone can help with a script for the mac or some way of doing this on the mac I would really appreciate it and so would the dev guy I have racking his brain on this for our 3 pm deadline today.
peace and thanks fellas.
