How can I access 'fsck' when my Mac won't start up from the HD? In fact how do I access it in the first place, and what is it?
I've got the 'overlapped extent allocation' problem and supposedly 'fsck' can fix it.
Thanks,

Fsck yeah you do.

And just FYI, fsck is a fairly low level *NIX program that can read through your drive and fix crappy issues like inode problems and stuff.

open the 'Terminal' program (Applications->Utillities) and type:
man fsck
(space = next page / q = quit)

command+s when you start up
then fsck /r or whatever

Thanks, I managed to fix the problem by running Disk Warrior and First Aid a few times so was able to do it without using fsck. Cheers anyway.
