I have a airport extreme card, but I have a linksys 802.11b router...will I note considerable improvement in upgrading to a 54 meg router?
I mean I am sure I will, but I just want to check for sure... :)

depends on what you use your network for.. if you are the only computer on the network and you're only browsing the internet essentially, you won't see a dime of difference. if you're exchanging files over a network with another computer constantly, or are using VNC or something to remotely control another computer, then you'll see a decent improvement.

yeah we run a home office out of our house with 2 pc's and 2 powerbooks, and a couple of firewire network back up drives, there is always 20-50 meg files flying all over the place, we generally get about 400 kps a sec....but a few megs a sec would be so much better for the backups, thanks jpea...I just need the nudge to get inspired enough to overcome my built in scottish cheapness :)

not a problem.. i inherited my mom's german impulsive buying gene, so i know how monetary traits weasel their way into the way we do things:-)
sounds like the g base station would help you guys out... or at least make your breaks shorter.

the extreme base station is bad ass, i highly recommend it. we had about 15 powerbooks hitting one, we were downloading all kinds of mpeg vids and they played well, then we daisy chained another one to it and it beautiful.
