I've heard a rumour that Macromedia may be stopping Director as not enough people are buying it.
Is this true?

I fockin hope not.
- Mimio0
Maybe. All I know is that it's damn expensive now.

Wouldn't surprise me! I quite pride myself that I know both.

might be that they are thinking of making Flash do everything, not sure?

I guess that'll make Flash the 'all powerful' answer to all things multimedia.
And it's price will be 'all empowering' too I'd suspect...

Flash is a LONG way off from doing everything Director does.
I'd be shocked if MM discontinues it.
Where did you see that "sales were down"?

It's a rumour. You know, from the bottom of a pintglass...
Just heard it from a couple of peeps now so I'm assuming it could be reality. Not beer talk.

I agree. Director is way more solid for offline stuff in my opinion . . .
- matt250
i doubt it - what peoples gonna use to make CDROMs then?
- unknown0
both as in Flash and Director 4cy.

rumour cant be true!
macromedia just released a directorMX faq some week ago:http://www.macromedia.com/softwa…
bottomline of this faq:
"Both products (Flash and Director) have multiple strengths and will continue to be offered as complementary products."

somehow I also think this rumour is false. Exactly, Director does too many things that Flash doesn't do. It's the same as comparing Authorware to Director and I don't see them discontinuing that either.
