hmmm...I'm usually pretty happy with auto...those lights have totally diff temps so expect to see diff colors.
the thing I try is to use the metering...try spot metering or other meter settings....lock on to a subject then re-compose...I think you can lock metering too.
worse case you can set highlight / mids / shadows in photoshop....also if you shoot raw you can adjust the color temp settings with photoshop cs as if you were taking the pic all over again.

also, if you meter off of the lights...try increasing the exposure otherwise the pic will be too dark...for night shots I like to meter off a mid-tone...not the lights, but the buildings and decrease the exposure time to get a natural look...otherwise the sky or dark areas tend to overexpose to compensate for lack of light
