OK. I've been saving for ages, and now have a substantial wad of cash to blow on a computer.
Tell me, where's a place I can drive to in/near London, get a shithot computer, and walk out - either with it, or the knowledge it'll only be a couple of days?
I'm not talking ANYTHING to do with Dixons group.
And I when I say shit-hot, I mean a couple of grand's worth (I'm no DV honcho with a need for 16 G5s in parallel or anything - just a decent P4 with 'the latest graphics card')

Oh yeah - I guess I should forestall the Googlites out there and stress that I'm after 'Recommendations'.

tottenham court road

Clementino - that's what I thought, but.. um.. where, exactly? I've walked up and down there, and if I was after a stonking Hitachi 99" flatscreen jumpTron at 4 grand, I'd be fine.
But I'm not, and thus remain confused. Help?

Incidentally, does anyone know where the hell there are any iPod's in London??

My brother had been looking for an ipod a week ago and everywhere in the UK had sold out.
Yesterday he walked into micro anvika (TCR) and there was one left which he bought - the shipment had only arrived 3 hours earlier.
Good luck!

I got my P4 from these guys...

I've been very happy with it indeed the only thing that wasn't good was that one of the speakers didn't work (since speakers keyboard and mouse were only £10 for the lot I can't really complaion about it...)
The box itself is shit hot though, depsite being a PC.... :)

Ha! Shit, my pal was recommending them, and I've spent the last 3 days saying "Fuck no! i'm not buying anything off'a Ebay!".
Hmm... shit, now I don't know what to think. Ta, MX_OnD.

I was wary at 1st too but I must admit they've been good to me, I phoned them about the speakers too and they'd have swapped them, only I couldn't be bothered sending them back...
after ordering I had the machine within 3 days...

tottenham court road is the obvious one - but dont just go into the dingy shops (some of them have holes in the floor and have £2000 pcs on broken shelves priced up with a price gun ala sainsburys) - check out micro anvika
also selfridges - i thought it would be expensive, but thats where i got my laptop - good deals (actually its a micro anvika concession in selfridges)
dixons - dont go there.
also maybe try yuseff at the kebab shop behind tescos in brixton, but dont carry cash.

also try looking in waitrose (you wouldnt think, eh) in canary wharf - got a big electrical dept and the stuff is quite good and if you insist you can usually get a good discount if you get the display model.
ipods here too
