Quickly, what are the downsides to using frames? Browser compatability?

nutscrape renders them differently.
Also the frame pages will show up in search engines - so you need to stick redirect scripts in them - ergo you cannot link directly to any page....

no frames: the ability of having acess to all content of the entire site within any page of the site ie.: if I want to point someone oly one item of the website, that person will have all the content reacheable on the same page, like the menu... that's why cnn.com and others display each news by including all the important items they find relevant if they get externally linked - bigger chances to capture the attention of visitors and grab them for longer periods of time.
on the other side, if I use frames, navigation and space spare would be easier by allowing visitors to easily reach articles and content and go through his direct needs, (like NT)
also is perfect for people with no coding experience and for sites with less content...If I had the code abilities, Id go for no frames site.
the wonders of html.

Personally, I use i/frames so that the whole site doesn't 'flash' between pages - only the content area to be amended.
If that makes any sense.
