they suggest that you not put more than 400 entries into their listbox component but i need something like 3,000. But I still want the functionallity of the listbox control. Any ideas? Or perhaps there is another way to do this?
TIA

thanks, Im thinking 3,000 may be too much also... would like to get more than 400 tho. I have been looking into flash studio pro with the active X / OLE objects. Perhaps I can grab one from somewhere else thats better. Im writing a mp3 player with flash but I would like it to sort atleast 1,000 files...

you need to split them.
i.e. have tabs, 1-400, 401-800... that way you get around the problem..
also if you do it correctly, you could still sort the whole of array of items, without splitting them into sections..

thanks frankbb
i didnt think of the tabbing thing. Quick question tho, you said "if you do it correctly, you could still sort the whole of array of items, without splitting them into sections." could you please elaborate? I guess you are simply saing dont load sooooo many at once right? :)

I think I have an idea...
Im going to test the ScrollPosition of the listbox, if the its greater than X, load the next 400 from the array...I think that might work.

as in, when you get to the bottom of the listbox, load the 400 to the bottom of the list box??
what i meant by the previous statement, rather than seperating the different tabs to different arrays, keep them all in one array, that way you can sort the arrays with out too much problems..
