Macromedia & Flash Developers

  I was looking at the article of building a streaming video with Flash MX 2004 Pro (http://www.macromedia.com/devne... and was wondering what kind of relation those developers have with Macromedia.
  O.k. they are obviously beta testers and have access to information and software much earlier than rest of us. But do they have a contract, they're on commission or are regular Macromedia employees?
  Does anybody know what kind of money do they make from similar work?
