The rumour was denied on Frank Black's website. Apparently he said that he made up the rumour himself to see what the British media would say.
Plus this was said:
"Finally, as for the latest rumor (#398) that the Pixies are going to reunite for a tour (as mentioned by FB on London's Xfm radio)... here's the lowdown from the inside : The Pixies will get together later this year to record a new double album of Latvian children's lullabies, after which they will tour each and every country whose name begins with the letters Cz."

Off to see Frank Black again two weeks on Friday. Hopefully he'll play all the Pixies classics like last ime. Crackity Jones and Where Is My Mind were amazing live.

I listened to the Pixies nonstop for a 3 year period in the earl;y 90's.. I love Nirvana, but as much as Nirvana ripped the Pixies, they are still very different bands.. The Pixies have a witty and clever humor where as Nirvana was a bit darker and serious... Both Incredible bands

exactly your best bet is to go and watch The Breeders or Frank Black better yet. He has to right to play all his old songs. He wrote most of them anyway. Kim Deal had to put up with him because he was a musical genius. ;)

The Pixies came through in the late 1980s with roaring guitars, stop/start rhythms and the waves of influence spread out far and wide. Try and imagine Nirvana with out The Pixies, nah, not gonna happen.
