Can someone please explain, i've been doing print stuff for a few years now but had not come across this until this morning.

say you have a bitmap image and some type in pantone100 over it, overprint would print your type straight over the image, knockout 'knocks out' the image under thr type so that it prints onto the paper rather than the ink for the image. clear?

My normal printer does all this for me, different one today hence the confusion.
