i know it depends on alot of things , but , how much do u think is a reasonable salary per year or per hour for a designer , and for a Artistic Director , in montreal ...
i have like 1 year of freelance experience doing jobs for different places , now i got a designer / flash animator/programer job in a studio ( they are like 9-13 ppl working there ) , the artistic director is leaving , and i heard they were going to offer me the spot cuz they liked my style in their previous projects i did for them when i was freelancing...Maybe they are only going to make me designer , or maybe they going to put me Artistic Director , in anycase I wonder how much i can ask without exageration...
Just so i get a feel of what is an average salary...Thanks !

hmm
i' had a quick look at your work .. not saying u can't do it... but DA is a bit premature right now for you don't you think ?
i think you need a bit more experience to manage a creative team..
and for the salary well it depends..

You only need to put a space AFTER your commas, not before.

hehe yeah thats a nice way to say i suck ! ;) but yes i know , that link as 1 year old stuff in it tho, and as i said myself i only have 1 year of experience and im aware of that , and i said that in my post... i dont know for sure if they are going to offer me DA , thats why i asked for designer salary too , but on the other hand , if they do offer it to me ( 2 people told me they would ) , well id love to give it a shot , and looking at what the old DA was doing , i could do better stuff , but i dont have managing experiance at all ... but again , the old DA didnt really had much too...
And yes i know im far far from being a hot designer , but if they like what i do i mean , why not ? like i didnt even ask for it .. Plus then i would get tons of experience and learn lots of stuff... not saying its going to be easy ...So thats why i need a general ideal of salaries that are considered normal for these kinds of job , i can then judge from there what i can and cant permit myself to ask.

ahkay , thats about what i was thinking , right now im at 18$/h ( ~ 31k -32 k ? ) ... so that would be minimum ... maybe 40k max .. not sure bout that tho .. id be happy with 36k ... but im happy with what i got right now ... just dont want to be underpaid ... and dont want to ask to much ... err ... anyways thanks

this may seem obvious but have you searched for salary averages for you line of work in your area??
there are usually articles like this online and easy enough to find.
search the threads here too if you havent already.
good luck

if the job is nice and u know u'll learn a lot from it, and that's a good experience etc.. don't be too demanding; between 35 / 40 k sounds fair for the first year

here in calgary I was working as an art director for a design / programming company, getting $45/ I think montreal is a little less techcy in comparison, but I think at least $60k CDN a year

I hated being the AD though, as a designer, the fun part is in conception and creation, not directing it....think before you leap
