"The only DJ's who are generally cocks are the one's who don't play any gigs, but play records in their house with their turntables permanently set up."

all you bitches winning about DJ being cocks, well. SO?
why do you think we're in a booth? why do you think WE are the ones playing records and not YOU?if you dont like DJ, do something about it. is not hard, is about being able to count to 8.
people who whine about Djs are either NOT dancing, or could never save up money to get 1200s of their own.
and my kids:
doing the jamaican motif.

paradise garage died down in the early 80s.
are you talking about larry levan, gay boys, lotsa drugs, happy disco Paradise Garage, or is it a canadian thing?.When that died down, nyc kept trying to have something along the lines of a gay house/disco everybody kinda club, they called it "Body N Soul" it was downtown, right next to vinyl.
Every sunday, starting at 3pm, until 4am.
I never missed one for 2 years. i would get there around 5, and dance until 9 or so, because it you werent there with a girl, it kinda got a big "Happy' after that.
But it was the best fuking house 15 bucks could buy you, if you paid to get in.
sadly body n soul also closed :[
before that went twilo and any other club woth going to, the NYC dance scene is so sad now, is more fun to play some records at home and dance by yourself.

I find DJing a relaxing distraction from the cruel realities of life,
e.g. assaholic employers.

i appreciate djs who know what they're doing. i don't appreciate djs who consider themselves larger than life. i do enjoy writing my own music though.
that guy who said that crap about it's a matter of counting to 8? - i thought that was a good point tho I'd add having taste to that as well.
got taste? can you count to 8?
move over carl cox........
- pand40
it is all about counting to 8.
taste is not for everyone, and hence the mob of lil kids with their CD players and built in BPM counters, that are fuking it up for everyone, becuase they downloaded all their music.
where as a real DJ will know his records, and hopefully they'll be good.
so do tell cookie, what clubs have you graced with your "taste"

No offense mate, but you're generalising.Try that at a club night that specializes in deep house or a certain type of drum and bass. You'll clear the floor so bloody fast your head will spin when you put your daft punk vs michael jackson bootleg you flipped out over on.
You might also want to know that Richie Hawtin and John Aquaviva who, with the help of some nifty little kit from Stanton called Final Scratch, are playing quite a few mp3's these days.
It is ALL about the music.
You don't play for other DJ's, you play for the crowd.
my 2 cents.
