using win95, i right click start and select "explore"...the file tree defaults to open at the start menu, so i always have to close those folders up to the C drive (i access files on a file server)...some days, one click to collapse the folders is not enough...they pop back open, someone told me its a kinda windows "are you sure you wanna close that" thing...is there a preference to turn it off!?.annoying!!!!

You arent meant to Right-Click and choose 'Explore' on the Start menu button (unless you really do want to explore the Start menu folder contents). It's not what they (Microsoft) intended you to do in order to get to Windows Explorer default view.
The 'normal' usage is to choose 'Windows Explorer' fron the Start menu using left click. Put it's icon in the first level of the Start menu to make it easier, or put it's icon in the QUick Launch tray at the bottom for quick selection.
(I'm not even a regular Windows user btw...)
