just finished a site, check it out. the flash intro is really cheesy, but it's the way they wanted it, sometimes you have no control over things like that :
hehe, i know, Neil Diamond is lame, but you gotta do what you gotta do :P
I didnt do any of the content, just the framework, so if there's anything lame there, it's not my fault :P

Neil Diamond isn't lame, i love cracklin' rosie!
there's something about the angled titles i can't put my finger on. i think a regular title on top of the text would look better.
And "stages" squeezed in to the icon thingy doesn't look all that good. But the icons are real nice and the colors are sweet. It loads fast also!

thanks for the comments :) it does have alot of problems, but if anything it is fast. all the graphics for the entire site, not including the flash intro is 34K :)

sweet caroline is a fantastic tune, perfect shower material.

Neil Diamond isn't lame...he wrote some great songs.
Overall the site looks good though it feels a little cramped. In the Audio section you have all that text and its all the same color (monochromatic). Maybe if you separated that out with color and spacing, it would be easier to read.

I'd second that, it all looks a bit 'samey', if you could somehow break it up it you would be more likely to read it.

hmm..i don't know about it...i'm not really feeling it...i mean it's a site, and it has what it needs, just not sure if everything is meshing well.

i made some templates for the content sections, but they decided not to use it and just cram it all in. go figure.
that's the problem with dealing with people like Sony, they dont give you any access to anything.
"Give us the files, and we'll take it from here" D:

mmm, those icons look painfully familiar... webdings i assume?
- toastie0
you know what they say about reinventing the wheel :P

quite dull... not sure i like the weird fleshy skin style surround either.
Reaching out... ... touching me... ...touching you!... Get the film Beautiful Girls there is a brilliant scene with that song in.

the intro image seems a little bit pixelated, isn't it?

i like the first 2 seconds of the intro... it looks quite atmospheric... until you realise it is just a image getting bigger... it had a cool shimmery feel to start with...
also the type on top of it kills it.

nice site!
the worst point for me is the typo, too big, and the colour.. and the typo itself (a kindda impact)... just my opinion!
but nice!

Agree with engage.

the site is cool. But what's the deal with chessy intro?

Are you guys all a bunch of kiss asses?
That site is terrible. And it all starts off with a horrible intro.
I guess someone hires designers that are stil in school.
The box art doesnt exactly say Neil Diamond but why not start designing from the thing thats being promoted? Rather than this flesh colored shadow box. The box is dark and bold. This is just cheap and peach.
Also think about who is going to this site. Hardly any of us. More than likely his fans. I would say that age range is something around 30 to 70 (if 70 year olds really count). Are they going to know that the icons are the navigation? Why hide the nav in little buttons?
Anyone that says this is acceptable for web design and more so acceptable for neil Diamond needs to be questioned themselves.

wow sony finally got rid of the site with "hello this is neil diamond and welcome to my site"
do you work for sony music? one of the remaining few left on the east coast?
- shellie0
steak&liguor.. to his defence..
i used to work at sony music and the lables are HORRIBLE.. usually big A level artists like neil diamond have their print art director design the site. most of them have NO IDEA whats going on with the web or how to design for it. the lables as for odd crap.. and you have to give it to them.
unfortunately thats the way it goes there. I was lucky with most of my projects the 40 year old print department wasnt involved.
i think he was just asking for debugging.. not a royal design whipping.

it should say the full title of "stages perfomances 1970-whatever" @ the intro. I thought it was about current tour dates at first.
you could easily fix the intro to rid of the pixelation(ing). Start with a vector silhouette with grad. bg of Neil, it'llbe real easy to get to look just like the image/foto with a little tweaking - scale it up just like you scale the image/foto up and when you get to the orig. size, swipe/slide/pull in the foto.
not a big fan of the large headers inside. the idea is good, the execution? they're a little bg.
why is the bg beige? was that your idea? something darker, richer more atmospheric, to connect with the cover image.
