as for SNAFU, it means Situation Normal All Fucked Up. it was an old war term that was used by daffy duck in the earliest of the bugs bunny cartoons. those cartoons were originally made for soldiers, so there were a lot of war references and stuff. SNAFU was one of daffy's big sayings.

FUBAR - fucked up beyond all recognition. another old war term that has been adapted into modern life as well. weird how shit gets started sometimes.
