I have a friends from Poland who have internships near and in Rotterdam. She says she is having alot of trouble finding a place to rent. Is it really that hard?
Does anyone have any leads to where one can find apartments in that area?

She is in Delft and our friend Michal is in Rotterdam.

It's not that hard if you have loads of money to spend. Anything below 1000 euro/month is very difficult though. That goes for Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and The hague (we call it randstad) and virually anywhere in The Netherlands.
A good alternative is buying a house (which I did). But I don't think Dutch banks are very keen on supplying a mortgage if you don't have a permanent contract and working permit.

I think the only quick way to get rooms in Rotterdam or Delft is by going to the universities and check out the different faculties for "free room notes". It might be difficult right now because a lot of new student are looking for rooms (start of the year).

so you want a cheap room available in one of the major Dutch cities?
Bwahahaahahahahahaahahahahahahah...
that's funny.. *snif*
well, you better find some good relations there and/or bring big cash.
on a sidenote: Rotterdam used to be easier(i used to have a big ass place there..) but that's all over now, same for most of the rest of NL anyway.
sorry.

you could still go "anti-kraak" or "kraak"..
ask your Dutch friends..

No need to buy a house for your internship i gues ...
first try these:
1. (yes, all in dutch ...)
http://www.kamernet.nl2. (search for 'huur' and 'rotterdam')
http://www.novaorange.com3. (commercial company, but were quite fast for some friends of mine)
http://www.directwonen.nl4. send emails to your dutch-based friends and let them know you are searching.
good luck!

thanks for the help and the heartaches. And everyone thinks Germany is expensive.
Maybe I won't search out anything in the Netherlands. Great place, just sounds expensive.
