of those here on it, how do you like to set it up? ive found designers can be funny about these things. this is me for example:
clasic mode: no
clear type: yes
desktop icons: no
quick launch: no
color scheme: silver
taskbar: auto hide
*Of coures you have to size down the title bars.It can be interesting how some people set up thier work space. does anyone do anything out of the ordinary?

and yes, i am very bored.

I like it set up far away from my desk. I want my Windows 2000 back.

I tried out a couple apps like windows blinds that made windows look like os9-x, but i removed it.

I use window blinds's os 9 skin with windows 2000. I have the main bar with the start button on the top of the screen. I have all my apps in quick launch so I never use the start button. I also have it set on auto-hide.

I just installed hacked version of OSX on my PC. Amazing! Kazaa & Linux rule. I love Mac interface, before this I used WindowsBlinds (sucks big time). The hacked version of OSX for PC is a bit slow, but still acceptable, I guess "Renegade group" will repackage the installation soon. I'm never going back to Windows again.

i have this habit to keep my desktop clean..
i put one folder on the desktop, calling it shortcuts or whatever, slam all the shortcuts in it..
THEN (trick coming ..) i pull to the very edge of the screen, where it creates something like a quicklaunch..pulling that away from the edge creates a window with all my shortcuts, only one click to open apps and the ability to still drag&drop open files..what i do most often..
hmmm...clear??
you can also do that with "My Computer" to access HD/CD faster.

I do exactly what you had as an example.

clasic mode: no
clear type: no
desktop icons: yes

where is this hacked version of osx you speak of boz?
I'd like to see it
- atomica0
Classic: Yes
Skin: Silver
Personalized Apps: No
Taskbar: Up-top, autohide, with quicklaunch and desktopmenu in it
Desktop: My Computer, and several folders labeled (Design, Utilities, Internet, Games) all having shortcuts in them that I access through the desktop menu in the taskbar.Cleartype: no, its ugly after 1024x768(IMHO)
Oh, and no window blinds or winstyles. I value my resources. even with a gig o ram.

Plain & boring -- how do you compare to MAC anywayz. I mean THe GUI really shouldnt influence your design style anyway.
I'd definitely rather classic mode without any distracting crappy windows crap.
Long live windows mediocrity!

I'm back on classic mode now. Before I had some skins that I had made myself for themeXP. Basically the regular windows XP (Luna?) look but different, nicer colors.
Quicklaunch, 2X normal height, permanent, locked startmenu at the bottom of the screen.
Control panel, my docs and my computer turned into subcategorys of the startmenu.
I don't use shortcuts on the desktop but I use it to save a lot of stuff on temporarily, so it's full of icons.
No animated menu effects or anything, no large icons, no special mouse cursors. My computer is too slow for that stuff.
