my iSight came in today. Pretty slick number. Haven't gotten to test it out on iChat AV yet (none of my friends/coworkers/family have a camera yet), but i can see what it looks like toward myself. pretty quick. pretty responsive. not much delay. only weird thing is how it flips the image horizontal. i wonder if it looks horizontal on the other end. i'll let you know.

sorry, forgot to post a question... what are your experiences with iChat and iSight?

I don't have it yet.
But it's really really tempting. The main thing stopping me is that none of my friends have it!
and some of my friends don't have Macs . . .
but still . . .
I am considering it.

all video chat will move smooth and quick displaying your own preview on your own end but in a conversation there will be a delay and a lower picture quality. it will flux from service to service. not bad considering what it actually does. fun stuff. cant wait till more people use vid chat.

I live in Chicago and I have a client in SF. We use iChat at least 1 hour a day. Before iChat my cell phone bill was $350 per month, now it's $30.
I've never dropped a connection. The video is clear as can be (30 fps!). The audio is just as good as a digital phone. When your using iTunes and you have an incoming call, it automatically mutes iTunes and then unmutes it when the call is finished. Sweet!

is really good, i was able to fullscreen it when i was chatting with a buddy in LA, he was on dsl i was on cable. we had 10-15 fps the whole time, the sound was really good and clear, and the iSight mic was more than enough.

frankosonik 30fps? what connection are you guys using, i hate to call you a bullshitter, but that doesnt compute. the best i got was about 20fps for a while from me on a T1, and a friend on Cable in the same city.
30fps a second would mean that the window was about 100X100.
is just a reall high data rate to maintain. but if your pushing over 500k a sec, then rock on.
