new hd troubles

I just put in a new 200 gb hard drive from Maxtor yet when it sets up it only shows at 128 gb. I have a 100/133 pci card but do I need to reinstall something for the card because it was attached to and older 1999 deskstar 27.3 bg. any web links for help?

if the card isnt ata6 compatable you might be out of luck. get an ata6 firewire case. (im assuming youre on a mac)

yes I'm on a Mac sorry about not noting that at first so How can check on wheather it's a ata6 it does have 100/133 on the card it's self. so If I go a head and let this disk untility utilize it? will this mess it up if I get a new card later?

on my system profiler it's called SCSI SC SRD 680m but I know its an ATA 100/133

O I don't have AIM sorry. I can open the computer up and see what company made it? So OSX does prompt me to utilize this new hard should because will this mess it up if I do get a new card.

if its not ata6 complian (or if it doesnt have the hacked maxtor version of the chip) then all you will get is 127. Even then it MIGHT say more than 127 or whatever, but itll error out when it gets that full.
you need a fully compliant card or youll have troubles.
or get a $45 external firewire case.
