Maybe it's time to stop arguing about the present and try an look to the future.
One in which there's no need for camera men to in Iraq (unless there's something good to say) and the American pressence is one of tourism, not occupation.
To quote the only corporation on the planet that loves us, 'for a better tomorrow'.

Actually war should be the two leaders of the conflicting countries going at it in a barenuckle fight to death.

People are up in arms over a journalist in the line of fire. What about the thousands of families affected in the area? They hardly make headlines.

"Actually war should be the two leaders of the conflicting countries going at it in a barenuckle fight to death."
That's a Frankie Goes To Hollywood video (Two Tribes).
You bloody rip off merchant!
;)

I wouldn't leave my freedom up to Bush jr's fist fighting abilities.

Ok.. so it should be a tag team. Bush and Cheney vs Saddam and the infamous Information Minister. Hmmm.. I really wonder who would win.

This totally does suck, but you also have to realize that its also gotta suck being in a place trying to do a little good for someone (i am just talking about the soldiers themselves) and having to deal with people either praising you... yelling at you... or just pretending to be your friend so they can get close enough to detonate themselves and kill you. How would if feel to have to try and work on gettin a water supply pump working while guys with ak47's take pot shots at you. Those guys are just trying to protect themselves. Yes they should have taken time to really identify the target, but this post would sure as hell not been here if a tank full of guys got blown up by a Iraqi with an RPG. Try puttin yourself in their shoes for a second before you go bashing. Again I am not saying it was right what happened. It is terrible and my heart goes out to the photographers families, but war does suck and things like this happen.

its interesting for some because the whole idea of war coverage and propaganda. Aside from the 'actual' fighting, is our obsession with wanting to know whats going on 24/7, or the governments need to 'tell' us whats going on or the media's need to weed out the lies in what the government are telling us responsible for these deaths.
I feel nothing but pity for the soldiers. they are being sent to fight and die for somebody elses interpretation of a cause. Saying that these guys are just protecting themselves is a bit simplistic in light of the question on their need to be there in the first place etc. etc.

the danger of that job goes with the territory folks.
did you SEE the photo of him?!? he had a ballisticks helmet on (not a friggin hockey mask) and a full flak jacket.
in a situation like that it's kill or be killed. with 12+ hit and run attacks daily on the U.S. soldiers i can see where they see a guy standing next to a building with a big black thing on his shoulder pointing at them as a guy with an rpg ready to fire.
sucks.
- audiophreak0
then we should feel pity for everyone in this world because we are all being affected in someway or another by someones interpretation or cause.
- lowimpakt0
not really, but as i said ealier would the blairs/bush's et al. of this world be as convinced of their 'just' causes if they or THEIR families were being sent to fight/die. fuggin doubt it.
- unfittoprint0
if the presidents, ministers, governors, senator's sons & daughters were sent to fight and/or killed in these 'just' wars, they would end very quickly, or not start at all...
- ********0
exactly. let's see all these arm chair soldiers on NT go sign up for duty.
- ********0
screw all the journalists over there trying to make a buck off of this war.
the media is just fuel for the war
- ********0
screw all the westerners over there trying to make a buck off of iraq's oil supply.
I too pity the soldiers but only because they are prolly idealists. and only to a degree, they get paid to do what they do. it's not like this is some drafted army.
- lowimpakt0
will the army always do what they are told by any administration that leads them? do they think for themselves?
do they really believe they are in Iraq as liberators etc.??But, can you imagine how the soldier who shot the cameraman feels, poor guy. That will probably affected him the rest of his life. was it right to put him there in the first place. war affects so many people beyond the killing/murdering
- unfittoprint0
it sucks. as long as he wasn't working for FOX.
just kiddin'........................*
- mrdobolina0
just as most of the people on NT have different opinions, so do iraqi citizens, our soldiers and every other person on the planet. think about that.
- audiophreak0
i am impressed with where this thread has gone. It has shown that people are really thinking about it and not just running their mouths.
