my company charges out my time at £110 / hour, but it would be much less if i were freelancing, i think. we're talking web developement, i assume (PHP, MySQL, XML, etc)

well, you can usually figure a company to take 50%+ for overhead (larger companies take more), so if you went according to what you get now, 50 - 60 per hour.

I usually go for $60 to $120. Wide range, but I charge less if I like the people and project, and considerably more if there's an annoying client overhead.
Having said that, it's pretty rare that I charge hourly. I much prefer charging on a per-project basis.

For US/East Cost cities, I would expect at least $50 for web scripting (PHP/MySQL) and $80-125 for real programming (C/C++/Java/Oracle DB Admin, etc...)
I agree with chl, per-project pricing is much easier to deal with.
