My cowerkers spend the last 3 hours of the work week drinking it up. Should I join them? I dont want to cause a design accident on my way to finishing this layout.

if it's a friday thing, then yes. if they're sitting in the corner boozing every day, you shouldn't.

In Europe this is typical, your setting says USA. When I worked in Helsinki (FI), my co-workers and I were half drunk three times a week at lunch. Fun and nice!
