Just ordered a Sony Ericsson T68i
and I was reading a review that said you can use the phone as a wireless modem for a laptop via it's bluetooth feature.Anyone tried this yet, and if so was it on a pc or mac, and how did it work?

I use a nokia 3650 with bluetooth to connect my sony laptop to the web. Bought a cheap bluetooth card for the machine and was up and running in 10mins. Very handy while on the move.

wow... this really is a nice surprise, I hope this works for me. My DSL provider gives around 20 hours of dial up with my account, hopefully I can use that number to dial into.

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatP… this is the card I bought. The software actually installed a dial up connection and all i had to do was enter my dial-up user and pass.

My laptop is a mac with bluetooth bult in, so I'm set on that. Just crossin my fingers for it all to work out.

i use it all the time. works great. i use it primarily for checking email though. i have an apple powerbook (17") with bluetooth already installed. a few settings on the t68i and it worked just fine. i love that i don't even need to know where the phone is to make it work... often it's in the overhead bin on the airplane burried in my carry-on... but my laptop finds it and connects me to the web! love it!
one note: if you use the sony ericsson clicker (the thing that makes your phone a remote control for your mac), you will need to quit it before using the phone as a modem.
speed: i get about the equivalent of a 56k dail up connection. sometimes slower.

Yeah, mines is slower than dial-up too.

I used to work in WAP, that thing is surely bad-ass, the old ones were even nice and I am talking circa 1996.

why are you getting the T68i, the T610 is sooooo much better and nicer

the T610 is hot.

the t68i came with the plan I signed up for, otherwise I would have gotten the 610. (assuming they would have had it with a fat rebate.)
This is my first real cell phone, my last one was just an emergency one with no minutes, so I think this should suit me fine to start with.
btw - my other phone was stolen along with 2 dollars and a ton of pennies I had in my car lol... I'm guessing a homeless guy maybe, because who bothers with pennies? Oh well tho, it was time to get a new one.

All phones are kids toys compared to the Sony Ericsson P800. I luuuuv mine :)
You get all sorts of programs for it - Opera html-browser, photoeditors, mp3/ogg-players, videocam... and don't get me started on the games :)
And with a 128MB memory stick duo, you could bring a whole 2hr movie in mp4-format, to view on those boring flights, using the phone in flight mode.
