What did you think of the article? Also, do you think looking at too many 1000's of websites hurts your creativity?

That article was not written by a designer. It was written by a lazy guy corporate suite who's tired of working so he's gone into template design.
He makes some obvious points in the article, but he's not driven by a lifelong passion of graphic design.
Looking at thousands of sites doesn't hurt your creativity. It might melt your brain first though...

I've worked at a office with designers who are happy working in a "vacuum". I can't say they were innovators in the least. To me it's like asking a filmmaker
"Make me a movie without looking at other movies"Impossible. The Audience's experience with a medium creates the medium. Design is made for an audience. So why pretend that their knowledge of other design doesn't inform the way they access it? Even if they aren't aware it has.

He's got a keen eye for the obvious. Keep in mind his story is being told from the view point of a designer that sucks.

Ugh, the guy had some OK points, but wtf. He didn't answer the question the article is titled after. So whats the point. This just seems like a ploy to thin the herd a bit so he has less competition, IMHO. I don't feel threatened personally, but I see how up-and-commers could. Bleah, commy template wh0re.
