I'm about ready to delete office x from my mac as no matter what I do word, excel and powerpoint all crash as soon as I open them. I've tried reinstalling but it's a no go... any suggestions?
Also is there a way to delete everything associated with office x on the mac?
When I reinstal it, it still saves all of my old settings so I'm not sure if I'm actually reinstalling it from scratch.

From what I can gather it's a font problem, but I have no idea how to find the corrupt font that's causing this. Here's the article where I got that idea from:

Going through every font seems insane tho... I wonder if I should just reinstall the OS

delete your prefs in os x:
users/yourname/library/preferenc... - should read: com.microsoft:Word.plist etc
also do
home/library/documents
then delete the foler Microsoft User Datathat will do it for you

Dont go through every font.
Take half, out then test..thereby reducing the pool of potentially corrupted fonts by half.
Repeat as necessary.

i think there is an uninstaller on the office x cd, in one of the directories which gives you the option of uninstalling all prefs as well (and even the fonts too if i recall).
i have had to use it before, and worked fine.

all you have to do is take all your fonts out your folder and put them back in a few at a time...
remember, there is 3 places where you have fonts in OSX...
remember to do them all until you find your problem font... most of the time there is no problem font, but adding them back in fixes things.

Thanks all... I uninstalled the fonts that were causing the prob, by checking with fontfolio. What a pain that was... hope no one else has to deal with this.
Microsoft finds a way to piss me off even on my mac lol.
(yeah I know it was my fault for installing bad fonts but hey... MS is great as a scapegoat.)

Its a font problem. The same thing happened to me about 3 months ago. You will have to cleanup your fonts, search for all your fonts, delete all your font doubles and try to find corrupted font files.
Font clean up, how fun!
