a while ago, I Know I saw a coupla trailer length animations - no audio - that were s'pose to be from GitS2 - can't find the link - have a feeling it was on that production-ig site but I can't find it there ... anyone?

the first part disapointed me.... people talked too much about "ghost..." was kicking Akira's ass but i think akira is actually the great masterpiece of this sort of movies.

Jg exactly what I was gonna ask.
I aint seen this Ghost in A Shell. I own Akira which is amazeing, but is this GIAS better?

jg
did you see Ghost in the theater? I'm with the Ghost kicked Akira's folks. IMHO Ghost is more mature, more involved, more adult, more realistic violence-wise.
- unknown0
mmmhhh... i dont want to offens anyone here but... i think Ghost was just pretencious, more forced....
maybe too long to explain.
from my point of view akira is by far more complex and mature than Ghost. i saw in that film too long explanations, trying to show the audience how mature and philosophic was the concept behind the movie...
for me was just pure superficial
and i dont want to insult anybody's taste!
:)

well you did!
Just kidding. But I disagree with you. Akira is visually pretty stunning, but I think ghis is easier to grasp as it is a bit closer to reality (now that we actually do store petabytes of information in vast networks).
There.
Also, Motoko looks hot

i never thought the films were comparable.
both are intellegent films and animated masterpieces, and each tells a unique story.
besides, 'better' is always a subjective term.
and for the record, i watch gits more than akira. ;)

mmmh!
i am alone guys!

ghost and akira were both groundbreaking and wonderful ....
but for my money, this was better....
http://www.sonypictures.com/cthv…not saying that as gospel truth
or that any of you have to agree..
just my opinion

I've read the first couple o issues of the manga--im not impressed. The story is even more convoluted than GITS1. Also, it doesn't seems focused.
Not to mention the artwork is too computery and tie-dyed.
But thats just me...

All three films (Akira, GitS(?) and Metropolis) are worth having in yer collection of DVD's.
For me it's all about specific scenes (in all three films) that make them classics...
• bike battle in Akira
• highway/final battle in GitS (soundtrack makes it!)...
- unknown0
moebius. thats a classic. havent seen that film....
- mitsu0
what i really like about gits is how the premise of the movie is based on mans individuality and what makes him human
major kusanagi is part human, part machine. if you slowly replace her human parts with machine parts, at what point is she no longer human. to answer that question, you have to define what it is to be human. is it our thoughts, memories, etc.? the program, project 2501, also questions this theory, which i thought was quite ironic.
