You know, your name is probably more unique in a way then the generic type of names that get thrown around. Aside from that, why would you want a company name when you're not a company, you're just you...in some cases it might be beneficial to look bigger than you actually are, but most of the time it will just screw you over.
An idea: maybe if you really really want a "studio name" you can have a tagline as part of your logo or on just somewher on your site that says Isle22 is amanda hayden. and have your name in small unobstructive type. That way you don't set false expectations for the potential client.

yeah that shit is funny. dude refering to himself as "they" or "we"
it's nothing wrong being a one man/woman studio, stop playing yourself it's ludicrous.
let the work talk first then the name
no brand name is cool unless it has something to offer

aight..i gotchya... :) i wasn't really thinking of the idea that having a company or studio name would make me appear larger... but i see where you're coming from...
i was mainly thinking just having a seperate identity for my design stuff....somewhere for the cheques to be written to, something for tax deductions...
that and the fact that my mom said she wouldn't pay for the webspace if i just used my name...hahahahah

You could always incorporate your "company" using your own name plus an explanitory line like "amanda hayden design" could be yoru company but you wouldn't have to by any means advertise it ast that, it could just be amandahayden....so you could have your checks payable to amanda hayden design or amandahayden.com if you want...if you incorporate then your company is a seprate entity from you...which means if you die your company does not...it's a bit more complex then that but it has maaaany advantages. if it goes bankrupt....you don't...same thing goes for law suits. not saying that you would or anything, but it's something to think about also.
And of course you don't HAVE to incorporate at all, you could be a sole proprietor or a partner in a partnership...but then you need someone else on board and that kinda sucks.
Anyway, I fully agree with SportyThief on that you should let your work do the talking first...then the name. Your client WILL find out your a one-woman show either way...might as well present yourself that way straigh of. That way nothing needs sorting out.
Hope that helps in any way.
Cheers.
