i am loading external .swfs in a main movie. these .swfs have a loading-script in them that refers to _root...do i have to change this to make those loaders work?
as in...
( _root.getBytesTotal() )

otherwise it'll think you're trying to find out how much of the orignal movie sat in the html page has loaded... and that will probably be 100%

well not really..
ever flash movie level automattically converts the _root to what ever _level it is sitting on.
so if you target the _root on _level4 from inside _level4 it will be fine.
unless you are having a problem, don't bother. just wasting time..

Never use _root!!!
always make your paths relative (either with _parent or this), to avoid conflict between movie's actions...
use either _parent.getBytesTotal() or _this.getBytesTotal()...
