There are files on my deskto[p that can't be moved to trash, or anywhere for that matter and i want to throw them away what can i do ?

Are they locked files? Hit Apple+I check the info, next the lock icon should be a check box, if they are locked, uncheck um and throw them away

You're in OSX? Try restarting in OS9, then trash them from there.

a restart or two might fix it..
or if you are brave, open up the Terminal (in Applications>Utilities), and type:
rm /Users/yourusername/Desktop/file...
or go to http://www.versiontracker.com and get FileXaminer or other file utility that can do this sort of stuff more easily...

you might have to sudo from terminal..
make sure it's not something you need though..

get an app from versiontracker called ForceDelete, it err... forces delete.
