Ok I work inhouse for this company that suck blood for a living. There's a local company here thats looking for a Web Designer/Multimedia. Here's the catch.. Their boss knows my boss, Ive also visited their studio xmas last year to check out a printer they have, so they know me. Ive sent them an email under an AKA asking for an indea on what the salary for the job is. They replied today.. Its the same as my current job and blah blah extra depending on experience, bare in mind this is an advertising firm, and the company iam at now is just some manufacturer and iam their in house designer - pretty one dimensional. What do you think I do? should I not take the risks of applying for this job since it could backlash on me or someone? go undercover? grow a dodgy 70's moustage and change my name to doc mcoy?

ahahahha
Mc COy !!!yeah .. do that
now that depends on what 'reputation' u could have at the other company.. i mean maybve they have heard some good / bad stuff about you..
u should try to know that before to apply in person

Can you talk with them confidentially? Most companies respect that I think. If they have a close working relationship with your current employer, they may be hesitant to put that relationship on the line by snapping you away.
I'm in a similar situation but the "other" company who works with my current one is seeking an interactive freelancer and I would like to work with them...but I'd have to quit here first so I'd be free and clear. Catch-22!

def do what monkeyshiner said. talk to them confidentially and explain your situation and why you're looking to move.
you could also be cool about it with your current boss and offer him to help find your replacement... on NT.
