I am interested in doing some intermediate hosting for clients. Is anybody else here charging their clients for hosting and outsourcing it? Any other recurring (free) revenue from clients?

i am not but a friend of mine is. he owns a small hosting company that is scheduled to go live soon.
he purchased a server from a much larger hosting service (one that has hundreds of servers in each room) and charges anywhere from $9 a month to $22 a month.
as for designers charging maintenance fees that all depends on how much maintenance is done and how often.
i am currently charging a client $300 a month to update a site. the updates are minor but they come about once a week.

have you done research as to who you would outsource this to?...look up reselling for hosting and make damn sure that they are doing all the technical support and whatnot...thought about doing this myself...there are some really good rates out there

I do it. It makes a few car payments. Thing to watch out for: Don't host to many people. They will call you all the time for tech support. And only host your clients and friends. That way, the only person messing with their control panel is you. And since you know what your doing you won't have to do much support with all the sites.
Lots of resellers out there. go here and see what people recommend:
