Do any other designers feel that they invent their clients? Even to the extent of overstepping the boundaries of client and designer.
I feel like I'm being pee'd on by the physical manifestation of the Auteur Theory.

not exactly how to respond to that, but yea... sometimes.
i guess the auteur theory can work both ways, but generally against us as designers in the graphics field.
i frequently overstep the client/designer boundaries. because i tend to get too involved with a project that i feel strongly about.
so have i completely missed your point yet or should i keep going?

i always try and overstep those boundries by sleeping with the client if they happen to be a hot female.

I only accept twin blonde hotties as clients.

i prefer to think of myself as "whore-ish".
distinctions are necessary to distinguish the various levels of whoredom.

lol. :)
as for overstepping bounds, we learned in architecture school never, ever become attached to your client work...it will cause you nothing but problems.

i learned from Pretty Woman ( http://entertainment.msn.com/Mov… ), "never on the mouth."

Bio, you hit the nizzle on the hizzle. It's basically the whole idea of caring more than the client does about their own image. Everyone once in a awhile there's a client who doesn't really want to get too involved in the design process. Even when it comes down to their responsibilities as a client.
