backgrounds in safari

i've got a , and it doesn't work. i've also got:
body {background: white url(bg.gif) 0 0 no-repeat fixed;}
and it doesn't work either? why not? (it does in ie/moz/etc).
and i know safari can support backgrounds (obviously)..

can't remember having problems with it..
have you tried good old hexcode instead of 'white' ?

i checked it, rewrote and tried the code here... it works fine.
do you have your image in a diff. directory or are you using a beta of Safari?

try using quotes around "bg.gif"

he does use quotes on his site unformatted.. check his source.

and i can see it clearly in the bg in Safari 1.0:
