Are you using a third party font management utility? If so disable all the active/autoactive fonts and launch Safari again. This happened to me once, but I can't remember which font was causing the diruption.

I had the same problem, it was also in the email prog....
...i managed to solve it by reinstalling the helvetica fonts. therefore i guess it has something to do with the font sets.

i think you are describing Helvetica Fractions. Uninstall the font and/or remove it from your font management software...
hope that helps

this might not be of any help, but i was having trouble with safari displaying text. the text was too small to read.
this will force safari to anti-alias small fonts:
open safari's prefs file in text edit or open -e from terminal- it's called com.apple.safari.plist
add this to the first couple lines:
AppleAntiAliasingThreshold
2
AppleScreenAdvanceSizeThreshold
2
AppleSmoothFontsSizeThreshold
2it will make the small fonts readable

oops! didn't copy right
email me for the script

cruz: yes, im talking about taking the font helvetica fraction out of your users font folder...then the problem is solved.

I got it fixed.
I just turned off the font A Helvetica Fractions in Suitcase, that worked.
Thanks
