I'm not typically into games, but I know that if I started I'd be in the same boat. The only two games that I own are Splinter Cell and Syberia. Both were really amazing and highly addictive. I really enjoyed them. Syberia has some seriously beautiful graphics.
I prefer games like these -- games that are built to be almost like a movie.

my brother did the same thing for all of his life until 6 months ago.
he still has so many games that he has never even opened.
then he met a girl... and the tang took 1st place.

i prefer going out.

since i live in a dead ass town, i work, then come home and play Ultima Online for a while. that shit is addictive.
on weekends, i go out of town and kick it hardcore with my boyees.
there really isnt much to do in this town besides drink or toke around the house or out with the mullet-wearing rednecks.

I played Doom and Duke Nukem alot in high school and college, like around 96,97. Loved em.
And have had broadband for at least the last 5 years or so and could easily get addicted to the on line games, but it's just one of those things you have to tell yourself: JUST DON'T DO IT like drugs and the like.
It would just get too much in the way of more important things. I mean, plenty of us spend enough time just looking at web sites to waste a couple hours every evening, and NT too-but that's a good way to spend time.

I like video games... alot, but i have a policy to work first, then play. it does require some discipline. As long as i dont sacrifice the imortant things, then the only thing i can feel bad about is sitting around too much.

BF 1942 has a hold of me too, and I'm taking night classes so I end up staying up really late afterwards playing. I quite playing games almost completely for 2 months but I just compensated for it with other "bad" habit so I figure gaming is ok :)

combine your bad habits.

I wonder if there's any kind of AG group reunions around (Anonimous Gamers)
people really need this these days...

lol... oh come on it's not a drug... or is it. It's funny that gaming is way more interactive (and sociable in multiplayer games) than television yet is considered so much worse than TV on the grand scale.

i've got a buddy who came to me one day asking me to loan him $500 bucks cause he was behind in rent. so of course i did.
two months later (of course after he paid me back) i come to find out it was because he bought some everquest guy. i was so friggin pissed.
he knew i wouldn't have given him the $ for that shit so he took advantage of my "nice guy" characteristic.
sweet revenge was the day that everquest was hacked and he said his guy was slaughtered by a pack of whatevers.... hahaha... too funny.

admitting you have a problem is the first step...
k0na, you are a heartless bastard. =)
your friend is an idiot.
and i am going home now to drink beer and play Ultima Online.why? because i have absolutly nothing better to do tonight.
(unless i wanna go drinkin at the redneck bar down the road...)a quiet night indoors. ah. nice.
have a great weekend you nasty weasel fuckers.

I was like that 4-5 months ago.
I was buying a lots of games, never finished them, getting bored of them fastly but wanted more and more, was always on gamespot.com .... but now its finished. I will buy only very HOT games. I think my next one is going to be Half Life 2 in October. I'am cured :)I understand that gaming is fun but its so un-construtive.
Good luck to you. Its easy to put a break on this, if you really want to do something else.

I do think gaming is a drug like any other drugs. Its having effects on brain.
I was a compulsive gamer during the last 2 years (Dark Age, S.O.F, UnrealII, Battlefiled1942, DungeonSiege, NWN, WC3 ... and many more)
. Now since march-april Iam cured. Now I only play 2 to 4 hours of Raven Shield every week. I went pretty fucking bored of playing, I've played so much that now almost every new game bored me after 1, 2 hours of playing. so I dont buy games anymore. exept the very very HOT one. .....
