I can understand the reasoning behind making public the pictures but...
...surely the remaining Saddam supporters are going to be whipped up into a violent emotional frenzy like we were when they paraded our dead in the media (of which we condemed).
It's good to see proof, however there could be consequences...

mmmhhh... i cant understand that reasoning. here comes the typical hipocrisy on politics. they can show the pictures of the victims but they blame Aljazeera (its good written?) because they show pictures of dead american soldiers.

the reason is to convince the people of Iraq that the sons are dead. They represented absolute tyranny to the people of Iraq. They needed to see them to be convinced that the regime is essentially now over.
hence all the celebrations.

I for one wouldn't have believed they were dead without seeing solid evidence.
They had to show the pictures since most of the previous information has lacked any evidence (WMD's?). This puts the adminstration on the right track...
...but with much else to do in order to quell diminsihing public support.
Whilst appeasing the 'west' i'd expect the photo's to infuriate the 'middle east'.

i dont think thats the real reason. even the americans needed to studie the teeth in order to know that they already killed the sons of husseim. how can they expect that people will recognize them on tv?

aljazeera was not praising or celebrating... they were just informing. they are not proSadam or proTalibans. they just have the mediums to inform from the other side.

those loser got out easy. death was too good for them. they should have been handcuffed and paraded infront of the public they oppressed.
and yes we can show the dead when it's good publicity. anything to get David Kelly out of the news.

jg, they didn't need to look up dental records to tell who they are. They already recognized who they were way before they got the records out. It's standard procedure, it's what they use to go from 99% sure to 100% sure.

If I was over there, I would let people pay me $1 for a photo standing next to those dead
brothers.
And then for an extra $2.50 I would write a witty caption under the picture.
