About a year ago while freelancing I did the animation and design for a local commercial that would run during the superbowl. The spot was sort of a shock add using the idea of the death penalty to sell hoagies (I know, I have to make a living though).
The piece won some local awards but they just did a segment on it on the 10 o'clock news. Some civil liberties woman in Delaware was very offended by it.
But i got it on tape is the important thing.
You can check the spot out here: http://www.local714.com/evanwork… and click on the first one "slacks". There is no audio in the online version.

remake the ad but with her chained, naked to the bed with a hoagie stuffed up he poopipe.
then she'll have a case.

lol... people get offended very easily nowadays. I didn't think the script was a great idea from the start.
It was successful though, it got the place's name out and everyone was talking about it.

HA HA HA!!! stuffed up the "poopie". very well said sexypixel.

oh, and i kid you not.
i think it is wrong, sorry.
i really hope i am entitled to my own opinion.

I actually agree with you, I didn't feel the add was appropriate or witty from the start. But I did the best I could at the time to get my job done and the client was more than happy.
Thanks for your input.

czrock, it's not you.. it's those who made you do it.
altho i'd refuse it, but then i can be a real tough motherfucker.
i once got in a (verbal)fight on the last job application when i was about to sign the contract..
which i then didn't so.. :)
anyway,
i don't blame you. as a matter of fact i hope it causes a greater stir.. it's good to see the death penalty being discussed again in the US.

Death by lethal injection is the chosen way of the majority of the american public to end the life of an evil person.
But shhh, dont ever, ever talk about it.Sorry but that balance is a bit wrong dont you think?
If death by lethal injection was outlawed then i would see a case for it being deemed controversial.
opens can of worms

I actually think the Hoagie place used the publicity to their advantage using the news story as an advertisement. The woman that was offended literally said 5 words.
Nowadays I am at a point where I can turn down certain jobs. At that point I was still in school and the money was great.
I'm such whore. :)

a huge can of worms..
i feel them coming indeed.
but yeah, you guys know what i think about death penalty.
and yes..
some crimes are too sick to even hear about.
but it's not that bit i worry about.
the whole culture of 'eye for an eye' is in itself a very evil and dangerous way to pursue a perfect society.
opens larger can of worms..
just my 2c. tho..

If this woman is offended by it shouldnt she be barking at the government and not some sandwich bar.
I do agree that the death penalty is wrong and only breeds and encourages violence.
to quote Gandhi:
"an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind"

Everyone will have to wait until next week when I unveil my nike commercial exploiting the underpaid workers in china.
kidding.

"If this woman is offended by it shouldnt she be barking at the government and not some sandwich bar."
so true.
"Everyone will have to wait until next week when I unveil my nike commercial exploiting the underpaid workers in china.
"
to be honest i am more and more believing that would actually be a great idea! if only..

I'd hate to say it, but I'm dying for a hoagie now. I don't know if your ad worked or I'm just damn hungry. =/

in the next commercial you can use Jesus' Last Supper.
i think that's more controversial in the US than death penalty.

actually i think is too easy to make something controversial in the USA. they are too double moral.
