Reading the Chicago skate thread just leaves me curious .. i mean.. how many of you have been skating in the past .. or maybe are skating right now, and are involved in design ?

I think I'm a walking design cliche. I'm 23 and:
-I started skateboarding and snowboarding 10 years ago.
-I own a VW
-I listen to indie music religiously
-a vegetarian
and now....
-a designer
All of these things came seperately over the years with a career in design coming last. Meh..aw well. Pretty soon I'll be wearing those black rimmed glasses and have stretched ears. NO.

i dont know about other cities, but everything in downtown dallas is now unskatable! all the leges and rails are now nobbed and skate stoppers in the cement. they now also have cops to only patrol for skateboarders. they tried to slap me with a felony for skating near the police memorial. shit even most other cities have local free city parks. we dont have shit other than expensive parks that are not all descent.

starting skating back in the mid 80's when I found an aluminium fish in a skip, then had a variflex splash and was hooked, skated constantly until the mid 90's and then kind of on and off, I still ride now and again but not as much as I'd like, my board needs more scratches, the nose is still almost clean!
I want Jonny Rad to play at my wedding, that would be aw3som3 dude.

no complys are just too cool to leave behind.
due to declining skill levels 360 shovits, meloncollies, kick flips and chuck on 50/50's are my diet these days.
but mainly I find that going out skating means getting pissed.

haha I feel you rasko...makes you feel old dont it? these young fuks only doing kickflip to blah blah...no sense of style. I broke my wrist last summer skating and Im a little afraid to get on my board again...can you believe I was sponsered by motobuilt at one point...now thats ol skool

i've gone on and off - going through some serious skate binges over the last 6 years.
it used to be religious for me... then i was working two jobs.. then college... then then then... blah blah...
... my last binge lasted about 4 months and ended 8 months ago.
My skate resides in the center of my living room --- usually I hop on it and pop some silly kick-flips and shove-it's on the carpet when I need to think.
plus it's 116 out today.
blech.

mitsu, yeah eisnebergs has been redesigned and is the worst piece of shit out there. i like the xgames park and that is where im at most of the time. luckily i got an industry pass so i dont have to pay the ridiculous $14 sessions that only last 2 hours.

i do no complys sometimes just playin around. i still do what we used to call the "turd burglar". you do a no-comply and catch it behind your leg (so it sort of looks like you're pulling it out of your butt), spin it around and land on it... okay, i didn't explain that very well at all.
