I am a freelance web/graphic designer and I want to gain som e clients but don't know who or how to aproach it.
if anyone can give me some suggestions I would highly apreciatte it.

Your best bet is to find a job with a company first, your portfolio is thin on the ground...and your experience is limited.
If you really think you can go freelance and find clients...i'd approach companies that might need T-shirt design, but be warned everyone is a T-shirt designer these days.
Learn to walk before trying to use stilts. It'll be less painful.

I like your site, there's not much on it, but I can definitly see your potencial. I say just keep doing what you love and clients will come to you before you know it.
Above all, I would say networking is the key. People that knows people, that knows people. That's how I made it to where I am (with no prior Design education, or even a proper portfolio)

One pointer for you is don't say on your site that the latest project you are working on is with your girlfriend, that sounds very very small time. As if you are a student or something and not a freelancer at all.

local chamber of commerce
local tech groups
local design groups
send emails to potential clients advertising your services
Pick some vertical markets you want to concentrate on and aggresively persue those.

you *have* to network. do you have business cards? I know it could sound like a stupid question but a lot of free lancers don't even have biz cards.
any time you might be talking to someone casually mention you are a designer, the possiblity is always there that person or person's employer needs some shit done.
I've gotten more than a few jobs off of my friends who happen to work at companies that need websites or catalog design. small business sites can pay good cash. I love small manufacturing companies... they have dollaz.

Your site is really empty. I highly recommend you do a self promo with a lot more interactivity. Since you lack big clients, you need to do something that grab people's attention and have a lasting appeal.
I like your site and work, but there are lots of sites out there that have a simliar look to yours.
If I was a potential client and I went on your site, I would not think you have much creativity. Your site is what will sell you as a designer and a creative mind.
I hope I'm not being too negative, but if you don't have a lot of clients or experience, try spending a month on developing a creative interactive self promo. It will definitely open more doors for you.

get them biz cards done asap. and I tend to agree that your portfolio site need some more shit happening.
it's like those sites that get NT approved that are pretty much all text... you think how the hell did this site get NT approved? but then you browse the work, and the work is what really sells it.
in your case you don't have much work, so you'll have tyo "sex up" your site like the British sexed up the evidence against Iraq.
