I like courriel. Most people who want freedom for quebec aren't even able to speak french properly or respect their own language. *Taps hand on desk* Courriel! Courriel!

large lack or intelligence and maturity from certain people in this thread.
Just look at yourself (and your country) before writing stupid sh*t like this.
saying ''its wrong to be french'' (Rummy) is just fu*ing dumb.
Its normal to have french word in France ...... preserving our language its very important.
Oh, by the way iam not a french guy from France. Iam a french guy from Quebec.
Anyways, sometimes reading thread on NT can be very frustating, can't believe people can say so much stupidity.
THINK A LITTLE BIT BEFORE WRITING.

I might be mistaken here but you are not a Frenchman if you are from Quebec, you are Canadian. I am 100% German blooded, yet I am an American, and trust me Germany wants no part of my ass, as does France with you. That's usually the way it works, of course unless you were born in France, then forgive me and I withdraw that opinion. Although, if Quebec secedes and France accepts you as one of their protectorates (nuevo colony of some type) then you are in luck. Merci ;)

one last thing.
the word 'Courriel' have not been invented last week you know .... people are using it since a couples years.

PS, most of the bashing here seems to be against American Culture not French Culture, which I personally happen to think is quite elegant in a way.

Jazx, yes you can call me a ''Canadian'' or a french-canadian, but actually iam a Quebecer (dont know if iam writing it well) Iam one the those who want the Quebec to be a country and get off from Canada. I speak french. And its important to have french words in our vocabulary, even for all the new technology words, like e-mail. e-mail mean electronic mail, and this is not french, in french that mean courrier électronique or courriel.

No man, no props I respect you for that ;)

Holy Shit! Whats the big deal? It has been Courriel forever. It's email in french. Why did this shit made the news? It not a political thing unlike that retarded freedom fries bullshit. Some of you guys need to travel a bit.

oh and here's a free language course:
E-mail = Electronic MAIL
Courriel= COURRier ELectronicThey have the EXACT same meaning, one in french, one in english. Do you feel a bit less ignorant?
- sexypixel0
haha, those crazy french. I think its a good thing tho, thay have a right to preserve and boost their language. Its a damn sexy one too. I would marry if 15 stone one legged, bug-eyed floppy titted french lady just for her voice.
- ToxicDesign0
Courriel...sounds alot sexier.

I'm a franco-ontarien (a french who lives in Ontario)
I speak/write/read in french and english. Can YOU DO THAT?
there are a lot of french words for a lot of english computer terms. Which is to be expected, right? But apparently CNN needs every reason to make americans hate the french. Even going so far as finding out that the French government wants to protect its language and reminding people the correct term is couriel.
scanner = balayeur optic
digital = numériqueetc
PS. To those who are ignorant bastards who hate everything that is different: aller chier les sti colis de tas de marde.
