2A commands major respect. Having recently visited their studios I walked away utterly impressed by their whole operation. I commend their position which is based in art, technology, AND BUSINESS. Their client base, staff, process, back-end tools, hosting systems, and utter dedication to cutting edge Internet technology is nothing less than impressive.
I hope they keep making bad ass techno-futuristic animation based interfaces. I too like the previous site better. In their style category however personally I think most of their stuff kicks major ass.
Oh... lighten up on the server crashing please. They've brought their servers in house and have an extreme setup which I've seen. Running a web server for the 2A site is not an easy job (I used to host it). They've got load-balancers, firewalls, fiber-optics, the whole nine (keep in mind this is a capabilities website, not CNN). Trust me that their non-sleeping IT guys right now are awake tweaking their Apache configs trying to get this thing to load so all of you can play Internet Siskel and Ebert tonight.
They'll probably make another few million of this website. Wouldn't that be something you'd take seriously?

I just still say.. the old was better and this is nothing new... It is great for what it is.. but the hype and everything although fun and great to have a good time... really was a let down

The kid has that marketing feel, I'll give him that. As I said before they are dying, this style is dying. The market is over saturated with 2a techny and flashy stuff. I think Eric saw somewhere that having a party with DJ's is good exposure, and it is, but somewhere along the lines you have to have a good thing to show off or otherwise all that exposure will come back and bite you on the ass. Let's bet that all those suckup sites (design communities ones and other awards sites) will give him kudos for this shit.

I agree.. this style is dying out in the design community.. but clients like it still.. so it wont die slow... but i think it will stay around.. then morph into a Minority report type feel.. hehe.. and will be revived or something..

Hey Damian, stop defending them. All that organization and business aspect you mentioned is bull. Why!?! Because if you announce a web site a month before the premiere and you make all the hype we all expect for their FANTASTIC technology to be prepared to take 5 million visitors and not for their IT guys to fix it now. And who is making millions man? They are? Don't make me laugh! There are only a couple of design companies in the world that are able to make millions and 2A is not one of them.

the sad thing is that as played as their aesthetic may be to us, finely tuned and aesthetically saavy designers, some schmoe that is trying to sell an air conditioner online will eat their shit up...its just how it seems to work with this business...power to em....
