Anybody have any suggestions on how to convince a client that they need to change their logo?
I'm going to be redesigning
www.fu-mando.com
and their current logo is supposed to be a chameleon, but it looks crappy and you can barely tell what it is.Here's what the client said about their current logo:
" The logo is a chameleon, which like us, adapts to any environment and flourishes - whether it's breaks, house, hip-hop, drum n bass, a shitty warehouse, or the Clift hotel."Anybody??

This sounds too easy...
It's a chameleon... so you can tell them the logo has to adapt, evolve, transform, update...it will still be a chameleon.. just needs some upgrades and "improvement in execution"... to properly express the quality of the company, and to develop the current strengths while adding new..bla..bla..
can we see it?

Well, ok, if you want a chameleon fine, but how about its at least recognizable. I saw it, it looks like an island or something. If you hadnt told me it was what it was i would have never seen it.
PS. the site needs to loose at least 2 flash intros.

ribit put it very well!
like a chameleon the logo may change a bit now and then, but it should still be easy to recognize their (possibly established) brand!
So keep the circle; just use a better chameleon outline.
and why not 2 or 3 colors, perhaps?

Yeah, but brand nazis don't like to change.
I feel your pain - that logo is terrible. It doesn't even stand out.
If they won't let you change it, suggest a tagline -
"Our crappy logo's supposed to be a chameleon"

Do you really want to change it so bad? Remember, some things it's better not to ask for...

This is the problem with designers and the current state of the market.
Everything needs to be redesigned!
I agree their logo is not up to par, but did they hire you to redesign their logo?
