Has any of you tried linux vector programs? Are they any good? I have heard of Scetch and sodipodi. I know they really aren't competing with Illu and Freehand yet, but I would be satisfied with very basic vector functionality as long as long as I can just use my vacom.

there used to be killustrator - which was beginning to give illustrator a bit of a threat (it still had a long way to go, though)...but i can't locate it right now...it used to be part of the koffice suite.
might do some checking.
i know you can get a copy via red hat 7.x releases.

yeah,
I think I have ran into killustrator before, at least it sounds familiar. The name sounds like a joke though and may give the wrong impression. Geek humor :) I guess I will have a go and try some of these. I know there are rpms for Scetch so that should not be too much of a hazzle to try.
Do you know if Wacom pads works with Linux? I vaguely (sic) remember the mouse driver is ok, but there was no support for pressure control (?).

I guess most pads work just fine.

i have one and it works fine on my linux box...it's a little funky on my bsd notebook...but i don't use it that often anyway.

The name Killustrator has been well, umm, killed by Adobe. It is now called Kontour, you can google it or whatever. It is still apart of the K Office package, but when the latest version is released it will be called Karbon14. Check this link: http://packages.debian.org/stabl…
