I dont think they suck or anything, but it makes my skin crawl everytime I read an article or hear some one proclaim that they are the "future of rock", or a "fresh new sound".
WTF, is it just me or is the world gone mad??! They sound like a Pixies cover band. This shit was coming out in the late 80's.
If you want to hear what Im talking about, just goto Kazza or whatever u use and search for Pixies Broken Face.
This is the type of sound White Stripes has bit right down to Frank Blacks vocals.
Sorry for the rant but I had to get that out for sometime now.

I'm a huge fan of Pixies, and I don't thuink they sound like the Boston band at all. I think it's more of a certain rock revival, like The Hives, Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Kills, etc...

Oh, there will never be a band as good as the Pixies...

the most over hyped band I can remember...
Ive tried and tried to listen to their album all the way through, and just cant... which for me is a sign of how good a band is.
All these new bands just have a few decent songs the rest is dross.
What annoys me more as a big 'indie' fan and a label owner, is how they pertain to be an indie band yet are owned by EMI...
now that pisses me off with all of them

I agree with srvollmer.
I'm glad they are bringing that sound back, I missed it. But yes too much hype kills a good thing.

kinggkezza your right, but this type of shit isnt new at all...
In fact, remember "Alternative"? as early as the Cure, Smiths, Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, NIN, etc. The big guys were selling millions of copies of "Alternative" music, when in reality it wasnt alternative to anything it was mainstream. Then came "Underground" which was marketed overground but retained it's "Underground" label.
Indie is where we are at now. Early indie bands like Pavement help transform Indie into anything but. Alas, the term "Indie" kept it's presence.
Although ironic, because the roots these types of music were born into "Alternative, Underground, and indie", they will continue to be called that just like country is county and Rock is Rock.
It's sorta like falling in love with a hooker because she fucks good.
