Is anyone here like me : scared to go on a plane ?
scared when the fucking thing start to shake and rumble ?I have to fly once a month for my employer and it's a nightmare.. can't controlm myself.. i just hate flying.. maybe not to go on holidays but at 5 in the morning on a rainy day it's my worse nightmare..
i think what happened since 11/09 affected quite a few people..
what's your feedback on this..?

safest way to travel.
no problem, just hate shit airline food and patronising cabin crew.

well.. i mean.. you feel safe in a plane ? i know about the general idea that plane crash occurs lees often than car crash tec tec.. but that doesn't make us feel better in a plane when the crew is telling you : stay calm, keep seated we are gonna go through a storm.. etc etc..

yeah naturally that can get worrying, I recently took off during a lightning storm (which had apparently passed over) it was kinda cool to watch though.
I'm not phobic at all though.

I have flowen loads of times and I really enjoy it. I kinda know how you feel. I hate the build up before you get onto the plane. I hate take off but once I am in the air I am fine and I love landing. It's just the build -up I suppose and turbulance!!! But it is the safest way to travel.

thx dita !
it's exactly how u said : the take off, turbulence and not seeing anything outside and landing..
me too.. i love it when the view is gorgeous outside and u can look and everything is calm.. but so often here (i live near the seaside) it's so windy that take offs are a nightmare

sometimes i wonder if this fear doesnt come from smoking way too much ;)
seriously

Defo - being near the sea is well sacrey when you come into land as well as take off. I came back from Toronto earlier this year and coming into land at Edinburgh airport the plane was rocking side to side due to the sea wind - a bit scarey but the view made up for it!!

see if you can get a flight in a small plane, a two seater preferably...or a glider
You'll not worry about it again, seriously! It helps get a grip on your fears, the smaller planes are much moer susceptible to wind etc but at the same time you can get a much more real feel of what is actually going on... once you understand why and how the plane reacts to it's environment you should be better off...
at least it worked for me.. although I still look at big planes in wonder at the sheer force required to keep these elegant birds aloft...

I hate it soo much, so much so I take traquilizers...
I flew to Cuba had to drink my own body weight in booze to get through it

shooting up in the first class lounge... how very rock and roll

I love when we hit turbulance in flight. So much more exciting then roller coasters.
I feel pretty sure that during that time the plane is on auto-pilot and will be able to compensate.

Yes, I have a problem with flying sometimes, it mostly started after Sept 11th.
It's mostly due to feeling you would be helpless if something went wrong, especially mid-flight, tens of thousands of feet in the air. There would be nothing you could do.
In contrast, I sort of feel that if I were in a bus crash or train crash or-on the ground-I'd be able to brace my body in some way, prepare for the impact if you could sense something were going to happen.Still though, flying is fun, but a few months after Sept 11th I refused to fly home at Christmas because I was pretty afraid of flying, of that helplessness you'd have if something went wrong.

Aye, I slowly have grown to hate flying the whole airport thing builds the tension. I need sedation on long flights and after watching a plane hit a building down the street it has'nt got easier.

I take valium...I get claustrophobic and I don't like the whole height thing!
- Mal0
air pressure and recycled air don't help any.
