doing some plaques n junk.
another company designed everything, but i have to print out patterns for mounting the braille.we have one braille font and i am trying to make sure that what the other folks have is right. only problem is that our font apparently doesnt have all the extra characters like a simple dash.
anyway, some of the other characters are not quite the same. if someone has a braille font, could you take a look and tell me if any of this looks right to you:
thanks g-snizzles!

i think the characters are lifted one position too high... my girlfriend works at an institute for blind people, can ask her.

I've got Braille Regular installed.
Looks the same, minus the dash.

Bio my sea mankees are having sex right now...
oh, and gimme a sec, i'm looking to see if we have a braille font.
- Bio0
the font i have is just called Braille. it has no dash in it.
as for positions, i know next to nothing about braille, so that doesnt mean much to me.
i think i will probably wind up using what was sent to us, but i do wanna be sure that what they sent is correct.
i say this not to be a jackass, but because i really dont know. . .
how exactly do they expect blind people to find these damned plaques anyway? they would have to trail their hands along the walls to find them! i mean, a lot of these lil plaques are at different heights. it doesnt make sense. maybe it is just for show? oh well.

thanks mayo.
have they started canibalizing eachother yet? have you tried to turn their tank into a bong yet?
i hear sea monkeys like bong water... but i could just be lying. heheh.

anyone else able to take a crack at it?
you can see that the last character in the fonts are different.
i suspect that the font we have is correct, since the first and last letters are the number 1.
the vector graphics they gave are a little bit off, but i dont know if maybe that is grammer or something. i am ignorant and looking to become enlightened.

i ain't got no braille, but did you notice that looking at a page of braille is like an aerial view of BiofreakLand? all those little bald heads ...
<~3

pretty damned cool stewart!
it's really pretty nice. those blank white pages with so much information... yet nothing visible other than some bumps.for some reason, the idea makes me smile. i like it. pure and simple white space with raised areas. communication in a completely alien form to a visual designer. gives layout, placement, form over function a new meaning. cool.

bio, this is the dash. red=dot.

meeshell, that is vary guten, you little stinker. hahah.
Biofreakland is waiting beyond your peripheral vision.
thanks for trying fonts for me ma'am. you rock hardcore.
you get the email i sent you when i was half asleep? with my luck, i fell asleep before i finished it and just dreamed that i hit the send button. haha.
- Bio0
red=dot?
i dont get it.

i know here in holland a design agency made a corporate identity for an institute for blind people.
the logo was made of a big braille word, with a big braille address etc - very good to feel for the blind people.
and in the left bottom corner there was the name and address in a 3 pt helvetica - nearly unreadable for normal people.
nice concept.
- mayo0
why yes i did get the email of you half asleep.
um... working on a response right now!
:D

stewart, this is the dash? C:Documents and SettingsericLocal SettingsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5A3ZJ3CXHxb36[1...
mayo, i will teach you the fine art of climbing a magnolia. i was an expert in my youth, though it has been a few years since my last fullblown treeclimbing session.
- mayo0
pffft! i climb rocks and trees fairly regularly, but that doesn't mean accidents won't happen. remember when i tried jumping the chain at the airport?

Bio, I'm no braille expert, but I do know that there's both six-dot and eight-dot braille systems. Is it possible that the difference in your characters is caused by using one system instead of the other?
